Youth has been a major focus of engagement last month for the Wide Bay Burnett WorkAbility Qld Working Group. WorkAbility Qld, as well as multiple individual disability sector organisations, took advantage of the opportunity to meet district youth when the region held the Bundaberg and Fraser Coast Careers Expos.

The Bundaberg Careers Expo was held on the 22nd of May at Bundaberg Multiplex. More than 1,200 students visited over 50 displays before the event opened its doors in the evening to more job seekers from the general public.

Approximately 1,000 students visited the Fraser Coast Jobs & Careers Expo at TAFE Qld Hervey Bay Campus on the 23rd of May. Students collected information on careers ranging from agriculture to hairdressing.

During the events, students were keen to know what types of jobs were expected to be needed into the future and what sort of training best equipped them to work within disability support.

The local WorkAbility Qld group continues to work with local high schools to meet and present to students as well as circulate the locally produced Career Quick Guide.
